The ONC's Certified Health IT Product List identifies the products that have been tested and certified under the ONC's Temporary Certification Program, which is tasked with temporarily certifying products while the ONC develops final comprehensive federal regulations. ONC Director Dr. David Blumenthal has stated the final plan will be released in 2012, and a proposed rule is expected sometime at the end of 2010. The final plan will incorporate the full breadth of certification guidelines, such as standards intended to promote increased medical imaging advances, intended to fully promote EHR adoption and meaningful use. For now, though, this temporary list will help providers navigate their options for EHR software as they take the initial steps in becoming compliant with meaningful use standards.
