NRHA makes telehealth recommendations to Institute of Medicine

This morning the Institute of Medicine (IOM) kicked off a new study commissioned by the Health Resources Services Administration with a two-day workshop on the “Role of Telehealth in an Evolving Health Care Environment”. NRHA CEO Alan Morgan will participate in a stakeholder perspective panel Thursday afternoon to guide investigators leading the study. “Telehealth is a game-changer for health care delivery in rural America, and I thank the investigators of the IOM study for the opportunity to provide guidance on behalf of NRHA,” Morgan said. NRHA’s recommendations focus on reimbursement issues, credentialing, broadband/infrastructure and a call for outcomes data on the use of telehealth.  NRHA has devoted energy to telehealth initiatives, passing numerous policy papers on the topic over the past three years.
