House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health holds hearing on Medicare extenders

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health held a hearing today on Medicare extenders. Among the extenders discussed were a number of rural programs, including the Medicare Dependent Hospital program and the Low-Volume Hospital adjustment as well as programs aimed to protect rural EMS providers and rural physicians from geographic variation in Medicare payments. Many members of the subcommittee voiced support for these programs during the hearing, including Representatives Burgess, Shimkus, Griffith, and Blackburn. NRHA thanks these Representatives for their leadership on this issue.  NRHA will continue to advocate for the permanent extension of all these programs as part of the ongoing debate over the permanent repeal of the Sustainable Growth Rate.
