NRHA announces new partners to advance rural age-friendly care
In January of 2023, NRHA began an 18-month planning grant to pilot a new program focused on transforming age-friendly care in rural communities in partnership with The John A. Hartford Foundation. The initial phase of the National Rural Age-Friendly Initiative had four approaches: convenings, communications, educational activities, and community health worker trainings.
One main objective was to disseminate rural age-friendly information, including resources and best practices. NRHA created the national rural age-friendly resource page to capture as many existing resources as possible while creating a space to house new items created by the team, like NRHA’s recently developed starter guide for the latest rural age-friendly integration resources.
Since last January, NRHA has connected with many key players in the age-friendly community – including experts within the association’s membership – and developed what will surely become longstanding partnerships. Many of these new partners will play a vital role in the next phase of the initiative: a three-year implementation phase.
NRHA and The John A. Hartford Foundation are excited to announce this continuation of the National Rural-Age Friendly Initiative that will include work with ADvancing States, the National Center to Reframe Aging, Oregon Health and Science University, Stratis Health, the American Heart Association, Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and the University of Texas at Arlington.
